Below is a description of the format of the lessons we offer, please note these are for guidance only. A member of our fully trained staff will be happy to book you or your child into the correct class according to swim ability.

Children's Lessons Descriptions

Pre-shcool: 3 - 5 year olds
For Children aged 3 - 5 years, this class helps to develop aquatic skills such as floating, breath control and water confidence, essential for efficient stroke development. Children enter the water without their parents.
Teachers use games, songs and nursery ryhmes to motivate and enthuse the children, whilst simultaneously developing strokes and skills. Lead teachers guide from the poolside and assistant teachers are often available in the water to support classes.

Beginners 1: 5 years and over
For children new to swimming or those who are not yet swimming up to a distance of 5 metres. Children may need to use buoyancy aids such as arm-bands or floating discs. Children work on early stroke development, but focus on skills and confidence to ensure they are relaxed and comfortable in the water.

Beginners 2: 5 years and over
For children who are water confident and can swim up to 5 metres on their front and back in a recognised stroke. Children must be able to submerge and demonstrate basic breath control to ensure practices and drills are purposeful
Maximum ratio: 6 children to 1 teacher

Improvers - 5 years and over
For children who are water confident and can swim up to 10 metres on thier fornt and back in a recognised stroke. Classes focus on further stroke and skill development, whilst helping develop deep water confidence. Children begin to swim greater distances to ensure strength, stamina and water fitness.
Maximum ratio: 6 children to 1 teacher

Stroke Development - 5 years and over
For children who are water confident and can swim up to 25 metres of back stroke, front crawl and breast-strike. Children should also have an understanding of the butterfly stroke and be able to attempat a swim up to 10 meteres. The classes ensure stroke technique gaining in efficiencey, strength and confidence whilst introducing regluar tumble turns and competitive starts

Adult's Lessons Descriptions

Adult Beginners
If you are new to the water or need to improve your confidence, our adult beginners classes help develop the skills required to enable stroke development. Teachers assess the needs of each individual participant and their confidence levels, and plan individualised schedules accordingly. Customers are encouraged to chat and socialise, as you need to catch your breath every now and again!

Adult Stroke Development
If you are confident in mid-depth water and are keen to develop new strokes or define specific aspects of particular strokes, teachers will be able to offer appropriate practises and drills. For example: developing front crawl breathing, improving breast-stroke kick or learning to dive into deep water
